About Cristie
Cristie Austin is a highly respected Color Analysis Specialist with 31 years of experience in beauty, style, and personal transformation. Raised in Portland, Oregon, Cristie has built a successful career by combining her deep knowledge of color theory and psychology to help clients uncover their most flattering tones.
Cristie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon, giving her a unique perspective on the emotional and psychological benefits of looking and feeling your best. In 1989, she further refined her expertise by studying color theory at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

For nearly three decades, Cristie has also been a highly sought-after hair stylist and color specialist with a loyal clientele in Portland. As the owner of Urban Roots Hair Salon for the past 15 years, she has built her reputation on creating transformations that align outer beauty with inner confidence, showing the power of wearing colors that truly complement you.
Always committed to continuing her education, Cristie traveled to New York City in July 2026 for advanced professional training in Korean Color Analysis, where she became internationally certified in Korean Color Analysis. Korean Color Analysis places a particularly strong emphasis on chroma and tone. Cristie combines this additional training with the comprehensive color analysis system she was already using with her clients, bringing together multiple approaches to create an even more individualized and nuanced analysis.
Her goal is to identify the colors that truly harmonize with each individual—helping clients understand not only which colors work, but why they work.
